Remedy 4000-1: Slippery Elm Bark Water

DESCRIPTION
Edgar Cayce recommended slippery elm bark dissolved in water for gastro-intestinal healing.  This herb was consistently prescribed for skin conditions such as psoriasis to heal the walls of the small intestine (leaky gut syndrome) which the readings often cited as the source of the problem.  The readings stated that slippery elm bark water would act as a rebuilding force to the mucus coat of the intestine and lower duodenum.

INDICATIONS AND USAGE
Slippery elm may be helpful for any condition involving intestinal irritation or suspected leaky gut syndrome.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
Caution: Slippery elm is not advised for pregnant women.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Taken orally once each day, prepare the water by putting a pinch of elm bark in a glass of water and let stand 15 minutes.  To make the solution more palitable, an ice cube may be added.  If belching occurs, decrease the amount of slippery elm bark.

CAYCE QUOTE ON REMEDY 4000-1

Once each day prepare slippery elm, or the ground elm.  Put a pinch of this in a glass of water and let stand long enough for the water and the elm to become active together, forming, as it were, an activity in same.  This will be easier to take, and it will be preferable, if there is a small quantity of ice in same.
